Rivian R1T shows remarkable feat of strength by freeing stuck semi-trailer
It is no secret that the Rivian R1T is a very strong vehicle. It may not look like it was designed for the apocalypse, but it’s an all-electric pickup truck with some serious muscle. This was highlighted earlier this month when an R1T rescued a whole semi truck that got stuck.
The story was shared on LinkedIn by Ken Kring, a former Rivian supervisor who now works as the Director of EV Operations at Tire Discounters, Inc. As per Kring, he recently encountered a semi trailer that got stuck in the mud. Unfortunately for the long hauler, the towing comment reportedly could not assist.
Thus, it appeared that the semi truck’s driver was out of options. At this point, Kring noted that he asked the semi truck’s driver if he could try assisting using his R1T. The semi’s driver agreed, and what followed was something remarkable.
As could be seen in a video posted on LinkedIn by the former Rivian employee, the R1T actually pulled out the stuck semi trailer. Following is Kring’s account of the incident.
“Yesterday, that was the scene outside my front door: flashing lights, blocked traffic, and a truck stuck in the mud. The towing company couldn’t assist, and the driver was out of options. That’s when I decided to see if an EV truck could really do ‘truck stuff.’
“With the driver’s permission, I pulled out my Rivian R1T’s tow gear (freshly unpackaged!), looped the strap around the trailer, and gave him our honk system: two for reverse, one for stop. Slowly but surely, with all four electric motors working together, my Rivian freed the truck,” the former Rivian supervisor noted.
