Rivian CSO shares estimated release date for .43 update

Earlier this month, reports from users of the Rivian Forums observed that the 2024.43.0 update was already in its user acceptance testing phase. A recent post from a company executive on social media has now provided an estimated rollout date for the highly-anticipated software update. 

In a post on social media platform X, Rivian Chief Software Officer (CSO) Wassym Bensaid noted that the electric truck maker’s .43 update is coming later this week. As per the executive, Rivian’s .43 update incudes a number of features, fixes, and performance improvements. 

"New Rivian .43 OTA update coming later this week with new features and many more fixes/performance improvements,” Bensaid wrote. 

The update from the Rivian CSO was appreciated by members of the electric vehicle community. The fact that Bensaid also took some time to inform social media users about the .43 update’s rollout date was admirable, as the executive has likely been busier than usual as of late. Just recently, after all, Bensaid was named as one of the heads of Rivian and VW Group Technology, LLC, Rivian and the Volkswagen Group’s joint venture. 

RivianTrackr noted that the 2024.43 update will feature new lock sounds for the day or night, driver profile enhancements, AI summaries from Google Maps in navigation, cabin climate improvements, and a number of other updates for Gen 1 R1T and R1S vehicles.

Gen 2 R1T and R1S vehicles are expected to receive additional features such as enhanced lane change on command, which should make Rivian Driver+ more usable.
